An American Bar Association study revealed that 12.5% of lawyers have Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD, compared to only 4.5% of the general population. Individuals diagnosed with ADHD often struggle with sustained focus, organization, procrastination, and completing tasks on time. Most legal practitioners are under a fair amount of stress, which can exacerbate their ADHD symptoms. This can have a profound effect on professional performance, personal relationships, and overall emotional well-being.

In this presentation, Shaun Harvey will discuss his challenges and successes as a legal practitioner with ADHD. Shaun will discuss:

  • The unique challenges individuals with ADHD face in the legal profession
  • How individuals with ADHD might face additional barriers or stigma
  •  Accommodations and strategies for legal professionals with ADHD
  • Strategies for promoting equity and inclusion for individuals with ADHD in the legal profession.
